A brighter day

Day 3 - 1 de junio - lima

Our second day in Lima was overall a much brighter day - in weather and in spirit (i think the weather won tho since i'm a little bit sunburnt).  The included breakfast was juice, coffee, eggs, bread and something else that i've never seen before. The coffee here is instant stuff but the orange juice tastes like i was eating a magical orange that turned to liquid as it enters you mouth - super fresh! Along with the meal came some welcome news from our contiki tour guide: our bags were located and en route! We soon after, jumped on the bus and started a city tour of downtown Lima. Interesting architecture in the town - got influence from europe, inca, it even had a china town! We came across some ruins right in the middle of the city too! The city central had blocked off the streets for pedestrians; there was an interesting street show and a changing of the guard ceremony for a parliament building. Lastly, we were shown into this old benedictine monastery that had really old underground catacombs. The weaving tunnels were filled with pits of human bones that belonged to victims of past epidemics... a little bit eerie but really cool! When we returned, we were shown an amazing sandwich shop. By now we were very well versed with the streets of Miraflores, we knew exactly where to head with our sandwiches - the beach. An hour or two went by watching the waves and the surfers. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. The day got better when we got back and actually got our bags delivered to the hotel - i'm officially not wearing the same airplane clothes!! feels great! Later on that night, we went to a huge park filled with about 8 or so huge fountain displays. Then we went to a nice buffet dinner with a peruvian dance show. Overall, we really crammed a lot into the day! Here's a few pictures but keep in mind, the most of them are on my camera. I'll post them all when i can!
